About RCFC North

Regional cum Facilitation Centre for North Indian States [RCFC (NR-I)] of National Medicinal Plants Board has been established at Research Institute of Indian System of Medicine, Joginder Nagar, District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh in October 2017. It provides a platform to all stakeholders of Medicinal Plants sector in 7 Northern States viz., Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, Delhi, and Chandigarh. The first task was to understand the issues of supply/value chain of medicinal plants sector and understand the success stories, gaps/challenges faced by the SMPBs, Farmers, academicians, Traders and other stakeholders. The gaps so studied came out as the intervention areas for the development of the sector in the region. RCFC (NR-I) started bringing together all stakeholders together under one roof through convergence and started dialogues. Necessary steps to fill the gaps such as collection from wild/cultivation, harvesting, post harvest management, processing, and value addition at source, product development and marketing linkage with the farmer/collectors in the region were initiated through various interventions. RCFC (NR-I) facilitated the collaboration with the stakeholders and carried forward the mandate of NMPB for certification and promotion of e-Charak for marketing and knowledge sharing in Medicinal Plants sector.

WHY CHOOSE US

Various Reasons to choose us

Why we should choose RCFC North?

The Regional Cum Facilitation Centre (RCFC) North-I, operating under the National Medicinal Plants Board (Ministry of AYUSH), is a premier institution for anyone involved in the traditional medicine, herbal, or agricultural sectors in Northern India. Located at the Research Institute in Indian Systems of Medicine (RIISM) in Joginder Nagar, Himachal Pradesh, it acts as a central hub for states including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi.

Sourcing Authentic Quality Planting Material (QPM)

The efficacy of traditional Ayurvedic therapies relies entirely on the purity and potency of the herbs used. RCFC North-I develops and provides Quality Planting Material for high-demand and endangered medicinal species, such as Kutki, Ashwagandha, and Harar. For clinics establishing their roots in the Joginder Nagar area, tapping into this localized research ensures that treatments utilize the most authentic, regionally sourced herbal tools.

Strategic Marketing and Supply Chain Support

RCFC goes beyond research to actively facilitate the sale of medicinal produce and resolve demand-supply bottlenecks. They assist in creating market linkages, organizing farmer fairs, and developing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.

Comprehensive Training and Capacity Building

The center regularly conducts workshops and training programs focused on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Good Field Collection Practices (GFCP), and post-harvest management. This is invaluable for ensuring that any raw materials harvested or procured meet strict national quality standards.

Infrastructure for Primary Processing

RCFC provides crucial handholding support to local stakeholders for setting up primary processing, drying, and grading facilities. By bridging the gap between raw harvesting and market-ready ingredients, they help streamline the operational infrastructure required for herbal-based businesses.
